1. What two or three academic and personal accomplishments are you most proud of and why?

The academic achievements I’m most proud of currently will have to be getting better at SAQ’s, and getting things turn in before the last day of the 6 weeks since now im developing a higher motivation for school which will be great when times get difficult with exams.

Personal academic achievement is achieving more creativity with my artwork , creating pieces that I’m proud of as well as learning how to cook meals for myself which is always useful.

2. What do you see as your greatest academic strengths? Weaknesses? Give specific examples. 

Weaknesses: Procrastinating is one of my biggest weakness but its only with things that im not very interested in which can be difficult since school has you doing many things but not necessarily things i want to be able to do in the future.

Strength: When creativity is called I am able to put in alot of effort in that department since i love showing people what i can do with anything that triggers the use of my imagination, And when i really put my best foot forward with my creativity i can make beautiful things that make me happy and feel accomplished.

3. Of all the classes you have taken in high school, which have you enjoyed most and why? 

Ap Art because it lets me explore new techniques and be more creative with how i portray my artwork and with the skills i learn in this class it will help me in the future since what i want to be is a graphic designer or animator

4. Which has been the most difficult for you and why did you take it? 

English and History because its not very entertaining for me and i tend to neglect it alot which i’m working in trying to put more effort in those classes and i know without history we wouldnt know where we would come from but i was forced to take it and it gave credit which is helpful

5. What do you see as your greatest personal strengths? Weaknesses? Give specific examples. 

Personal strengths i see myself as reliable when my friends need me or need help with their issues and they know that anything they say will only stay with me and can trust me with basically anything. 

6. List three adjectives you would use to describe yourself and explain why. 

a. Artistic- because im in love with art and the idea with it and i want to pursue art for my future career

b.care-free- which can be nice since it means friends can be chill with means they feel confortable with me and when they come with their problems and want a escape i can help them feel relaxed by just letting them talk

c. caring- im constantly worried about how my friends are doing and they know im always there for them.

7. List two adjectives your friends would use to describe you and explain why. 

a. warm-hearted: because im a comfortable person to be around and they feel safe with me 

b.Considerate: because i’m always thinking about others feelings and im always making sure that i dont hurt others and make sure they’re okay 

8. List at least two ARS teachers or staff members who know you well and who can speak confidently about  your abilities. Explain WHY you would select them.:

• Ms.walker since she was very patient with me when i would struggle but she still saw good things in me and she help me bring them out.
• Mr.soden he knows i love media tech even though my grade doesn’t show it at the moment he knows that i still care about it , its just been hard doing stuff at home

9. What adjectives do you think each would use to describe you? Explain why. 

• Ambitious for example i used to come in to media tech class before i even got into the actual course and practice photoshop on Mr.sodens computer and i would come in during my lunch time to prepare myself for the up coming years
• Driven because if i really focus on something i put a lot of effort into it until i consider it close to perfect 
• Creative since in english or media tech you can see the things they teach in different ways with writing/ storytelling

Hi Ms. Langley i hope you are having a good day  i believe i deserve a 90 this time because i have been turning in work and i have a 87 in your class which means i have been on top of my work, you might have notice as well since i have been keeping in touch with you and constantly checking if i’m missing anything that way i don’t leave it til the end of the six weeks. How i been adapting to this new way of learning is pretty simple to me now since i have gotten the gist of things for example, since we don’t have teachers telling us when class starts i have been making alarms setting 5 minutes before class that way i have time to set up and be ready for class to begin and since everything is on blend it’s much simpler to find assignments well only if the teacher has it organized which most do, some are a tad bit harder to find since some teachers have two things of where they put their work. They have modules and assignment tabs so it can be confusing where they put their latest work but besides that everything is pretty understanding. I don’t really remember my learning goals but I’m pretty sure I said I wanted to be more open about reading other types of literature besides manga or comics because they can be very addicting to me. So far I have been open about reading other books since I have been reading dealing in dreams by lliam rivera which is a fiction novel and so far i am enjoying the book. It’s very interesting and I like the style and how the characters interact with each other. Are the behaviors consistent ? Not exactly because i do once in a while pick up a manga and just start reading it while listening to music which makes me zone out into the story which leads me reading more of the since i do have a collection. Their art style is so fascinating to me since that’s what i like and want to do, not necessarily do manga but draw in that Japanese style and create some type of anime which in case you don’t know is Japanese animation which i’m basically in love with and it is in my career path so mangas draw me in more than regular fiction books or other types of literature.But luckily it isn’t too bad since im still picking up dealing in dreams and staying on task with it.

This is about how Jackson Bird was a really big fan of the harry potter series which helped him come out as trans do to the openness of the community he was nervous but had no doubts about how the fandom would treat him, “While I was nervous about coming out to some relatives and acquaintances, I never doubted that the Harry Potter community would accept me for who I was.”  he was so sure about everyone in the harry potter fandom and even the creator to accept the LGBTQ+ community that he had no doubts about J.K Rowling the creator of the Harry potter series until he found out that J.K Rowling isnt as accepting  as he thought she was, “As a devoted Harry Potter fan who also happens to be transgender, it was like a punch in the gut.” Jackson even related some of the characters in the series and tied it to his life. “I internalized the half-giant Hagrid’s stance on self-acceptance in “The Goblet of Fire”: “I am what I am, an’ I’m not ashamed.” This shows that he isn’t ashamed of who he is and is confident about that but it is a shame that someone who has helped you in something as important as coming out doesn’t accept you for who you are and degrades it. They’re not even secretive about it J.K rowling has even put out there how she’s not accepting of the trans community. Even through all that Jackson keeps being himself. As he once said “J.K. Rowling’s latest opinions, as much as they might sting, can’t take that magic away from me.”

In Killer Mike’s discourse about the brutality in Atlanta, he specifies how he doesn’t want his local community burning down their homes. “So, I’m duty bound to be here to simply say that it is your duty not to burn your own house down for anger with an enemy.” “What I can tell you is that if you sit in your homes tonight instead of burning your home to the ground, you will have time to properly plot, plan, strategize, and organize and mobilize in an effective way.” The speaker is attempting to persuade the Atlanta protesters to sit and think and not be fierce when creating ideas or thoughts to stop  corrupted police power. Since Atlanta is his home he knows the difficulties they have survived. “We got good enough to destroy cash bonds. You don’t have to worry about going to jail for something petty. We got smart enough to decriminalize marijuana. How smart are we going to be in the next 15 to 20 years, to keep us ahead …”He has confidence the people of Atlanta can accomplish such a great deal since they are tough individuals who are extremely energetic about getting their direction and have common interests. He accepts that they will just improve  throughout the years since it will never be perfect and there will be flaws however they will do all in their work to sort it out. So he gives his local people 2 different ways to do as such,“Two of the most effective ways is first taking your butt to the computer and making sure you fill out your Census so that people know who you are and where you are. The next thing is making sure you exercise your political bully power and going to local elections and beating up the politicians that you don’t like.” He needs his locale to remove the electors who help make the system so corrupted and give them these crazy principles they have to follow that are so exceptionally off-base and racist and end up with the police having blood on their hands yet getting away with it. “You got a prosecutor that sent your partner to jail, and you know it was bullshit? Put a new prosecutor in there.”He closes with saying that only he alone can’t fix this however he trusts that as a greater community they can pull it off. . “I love and respect you all. I hope that we find a way out of it because I don’t have the answers, but I do know we must plot. We must plan. We must strategize, organize, and mobilize.”

Tired, locked in & scared

I have always dreamed of having a summer break as long as we did. That all changed when quarantine kept going and going and it doesn’t seem like it’ll stop anytime soon. I constantly slept in but I still felt tired. I wanted to move, go outside, or hangout at the mall without having the fear of getting sick from this hideous virus. It’s honestly terrifying how much this virus has controlled us. Not all of it is bad though, I got to hangout with my family more. We played video games, danced to kpop, even made some snacks. But eventually I got tired of it as well so I started to exercise a bit that sadly didn’t last long. Just gotta find more ways to entertain myself so I started painting. That’s going well so far. Hope it lasts for a good long while.

Hi Ms.Langley i hope you are doing great, i believe I deserve an 85 because i’m not taking as long to do work as of before it would had taken me till the end of the six weeks to complete this reflection, i have improved in turning in work i have completed the assertions i just need to quickly paste those into word press. I have been doing reading i’m currently re-reading Dealing in Dreams by Lilliam Rivera which is about how in this new world it is run and in charged by females where there is all these female gangs are in charge of taking care of Mega city by bloodshed and battles since there is rivalry , Deesse which is the founder and leader of mega city creates challenges so whom ever achieves those challenges first Deesse decides on who can live the life of luxury in the mega towers. Nalah is 16 years old and is in one of the toughest gang her loyalty to deesse and her dreams to live in that life of luxury push her to be the top gang. It is honestly addicting especially since I can kinda see myself in those shoes, not that I’m in a gang or anything but they are Hispanic Latin women and I read how they would speak. They have this sorta of Spanish accent that i hear when i read the story. I don’t find many books that involve just women or Hispanic women so it was a nice change.i tend to read more on the weekends but sadly i can’t read as much on Sunday since i use that day for late work that i did not complete that week  which is useful to me. I just sit in my room listening to music since it does help me focus a lot more and I open my laptop and start working on all the things i need to do. For me it is helpful if i start with something that weighs more since that is what most teachers want and it helps my grade tremendously. One day i’ll just be able to sit down and do my homework on time with all my classes. I have been doing so with some of my classes thankfully so i’m not stressing out too much towards the end of the six weeks which is really nice and i assume great for the teachers as well since they don’t have to constantly tell me “hey do your work you are failing”  so that is it i have improve  a bit this six weeks i wouldn’t say a drastic change but its something don’t you think?

Hello ms.Langley

I hope you are having a good day, I believe that I deserve an 80 because I have been doing my work I just haven’t turned it in since i’m trying to catch up on other work since this year has been a bit unpredictable for me trying to understand the new works and kinks of zoom and blend, I know that i have been having late assignments lately but everything has been sorta completed all the late assignments that need to go on to wordpress are usually in my google docs, i will try my absolute hardest for this to never happen again I will begin to write my future assignments on wordpress. I will be more organized in my time management, which i have been currently working on I have alarms set 5 minutes before class as well as a to do list that i need to start using more since it was helpful the first week of school but eventually stopped using it which was definitely a mistake, the first six weeks have been a struggle for me to get used to since I usually can just show my homework in person and get help or tutoring from classmates, back in school we would have a small circle of friends who need help with assignments we did not  copy off each other since that would be obvious to the teachers but we gave each other useful information that helped us complete our assignments on time and it helped us stay on top of most of our work. Now that I don’t have that it is harder to get in touch with our friends since they are also doing their own thing.Once in a while we text each other for help but there is so little we can do to help out.By the 2nd six weeks i really hope i’m able to follow along with everything as well as turn assignments on time since it is really affecting my grade a lot more than i expected i’m really trying to fix all this up and make it less hard on you since you do have hundreds of assignments to read and grade, i am very sorry for making this harder on you when i should had just done everything on wordpress and stayed on tasked. I have come along way since im acknowledging what i have done wrong and this has been an issue for years but each six weeks does get better for me and the teachers, they see more progress and assignments turned in and i hope you will see that too ms.Langley i reuse my old methods that were beneficial like setting alarms when to do homework and using my to do list since it is kinda fun scratching things off the list and knowing that i dont ever have to worry about it again. Just like this assignment that can surly  now be officially off the list.

Fredrick Douglass uses his prologue to give the readers a different view of what was going on in his past in the book Fredrick Douglass writes, “This bread I used to
bestow upon the hungry little urchins, who, in return, would give me that more valuable
bread of knowledge.”(4) Fredrick explains that he would take bread from his masters home and exchanged it to the little white boys who gave him knowledge and taught him how to read and write. African Americans were not allowed to be taught how to read or write like the white folks. This prologue is an eye opener because we wouldn’t see that these days its great that most things have changed for the better . It also shows how important it is to learn how to read and write and we are lucky to have the chance.

The Sympathizer

In the book The Sympathizer by Viet Thanh Nguyen, it talks approximately how he departed from Vietnam to be an agent to the folks that are communist. He explains the massive things that went on in his lifestyles like his father who broke his promise in his earlier marriage to not impregnate his mother. Even though he is an agent closer to people who are communist he is nevertheless pleasant with the CIA and people who aren’t of the type. One of the people that he helps through his work is his buddy Bon. Bon’s family was killed inside the center of an army assault and were driven to the U.S and opened a store in which he sells Alcohol. 

The agent is disenchanted with the U.S culture and injuring the glory of his buddy. He attempts to exchange up a number of the information approximately some of which rebel on people’ judgment. The agent then is given a possibility from a Hollywood company to seek information on a film approximately the Vietnamese warfare, however while he indicates up, he’s conscious that the company truly suggests the false fact about the Vietnamese battle to criticize the Vietnamese. He is almost murdered through what appears to be an “incidental” explosion after his project with the movie was finished.

Why I feel that this book became appropriate for the award is as it explains the problems that he had gone through in the story. It pulls the reader into the tale and makes the reader experience that  make it seem like being inside the authors’ shoes. This is a great component to have while writing a story. The book is well put together and there isn’t one component that doesn’t make me lose my interest for it. I suppose the book  is appropriate for the award and in my opinion  no other book could compete with it. Inside the book The Sympathizer byViet Thanh Nguyen, it talks about the vengeance and the conflict between right and wrong selections.
